TGO 2014 Vetted!

Had the notification from John Manning this morning:

Alan Hardy the Vetter requested….. “no revisions and I have therefore labelled you as “green-for-go” in my records!”

Grin

Only 23 weeks to go until it’s bag packing time!

I plan on setting out from Strathcarron Friday lunchtime, matches the train from Aberdeen, and after signing out and maybe a pint it’ll be up the hill to the Bearnais bothy (or camp by the river).

Saturday, 10th will be a day across the local tops ending up over at the Maol-bhuidh bothy, not far to travel but there’s a few bumps planned to get in the way.

Sunday, 11th follows the ‘trade’ route south to Loch Mullardoch and then up Gleann a’Choilich and over into Glen Affric camping down by Athnamulloch

Monday, 12th up and over the tops, big bumps, to Loch Cluanie and east along the OMR to camp near Ceannacroc

Tuesday, 13th a short trek over the OMR to Ft Augustus; do some shopping, eat and drink some beer…still need to book a bed!

Wednesday, 14th Glen Doe hydro track to reservoir and on to  Stronelairg camping a short way up Glen Markie

Thursday, 15th over to River Eskin then downsytream to Coignafearn Old Lodge up and over  Carn Caol to the Red Bothy.

Friday, 16th  Burma road to Aviemore; do some shopping, eat and drink some beer…another bed to book!

Saturday, 17th Lairig an Laoigh to Faindouran.

Sunday, 18th Glen Avon,Glen Builg and Glen Gairn to camp at Daldownie

Monday, 19th  over the ridge to Carn Dearg and onto Ballater; do some shopping, eat and drink some beer…probably stay on the campsite.

Tuesday, 20th Deeside Way to Dinnet, across to Glen Tannar before nipping across to  the Forest of Birse and a camp somewhere down the valley.

Wednesday, 21st into the Fetteresso following the Builg Mounth and then Stock Mounth to camp around Stonehouse

Thursday, 22nd a short stroll into Stonehaven and the Marine Hotel for lunch and maybe a beer before the bus ride to Montrose and the party!

I knew there was something sadly lacking from my route……beer !! This just shows the value of previous TGO experience. How could I have let that one slip. I’ll blame it on TGO virginity.

Beer, pies and chips are a necessary component of the calorie controlled diet at every town on route! 3000 cals on the trail 5000+ cals in town.
      Have a good crossing.
